Returned to Toad Mountain today with the goal of avoiding further sunburn. It was a hot hike in the full sun and we moved slowly along the ridge, packing snow into our hats.
A hot sunny day of hiking on Cornice Ridge! Bear Grass was in full bloom up and down the slopes, along with patches of Beardtongue and Asters.
It was a big snow year and much of Kokanee Glacier Park is still under snow! Checking the webcam at the cabin is a good indication of how much snow is left, but we decided to trek up to Kokanee Lake anyways and enjoy the views!
Went back to Sproule Creek after work one evening for a rainy hike. The water is low right now, leading to some mini waterfalls among the creek bed. The final bridge is still out, but with the low water, it is possible to cross the creek and continue the last 1km to the Mill Site.
Hiked up to the Smallwood/Bigwood lookout last week! Beautiful views and clouds of mosquitoes at the top. Trail is snow-free with just a handful of deadfall along the route.
The snow line is creeping up over 1300m and that means that the shoulder-season hikes are opening up again!
