Early Season Hike to Kokanee Lake

It was a big snow year and much of Kokanee Glacier Park is still under snow! Checking the webcam at the cabin is a good indication of how much snow is left, but we decided to trek up to Kokanee Lake anyways and enjoy the views!

Kokanee Glacier Road is a little rougher and tougher after the winter season, but despite the bumpy drive, there were lots of folks at the Gibson Lake trailhead.

It was super scenic for an early season hike! All of the tributary creeks and waterfalls were bubbling away along the trail and wildflowers dotted the slopes. The snow started just past the Keyhole turn-off, but wherever the snow line was receding, yellow glacier lilies and anemones were pushing up.
