Stagleap Provincial Park is renowned for backcountry skiing, but there is also a summer trail that dips along Lightning Strike. Ridgeline hiking is always a good choice, and this trail doesn’t disappoint with panoramic views of the mountains around Kootenay Pass.
Smoke from the wildfires has settled around the Kootenays, pushing the mountains back into a blue haze. It’s not great conditions for hiking, but we trekked up towards Kokanee Lake anyways.
Short, sweet, spectacular – that’s the trail up to Tulip Creek Falls. It’s less of a hike and more of a diversion, but it’s well worth the trip!
It was a big snow year and much of Kokanee Glacier Park is still under snow! Checking the webcam at the cabin is a good indication of how much snow is left, but we decided to trek up to Kokanee Lake anyways and enjoy the views!
